BAT IN MY SINK!!!!

Resume breathing. We have an older home and periodically we will encounter one of God's nocturnal creatures in our home. (sadly NOT the turning into Edward Cullen kind) Husband opens the windows and the bat flies out. Not a big deal. Until this morning.

While rinsing dishes in the sink I lifted a pan and there, sleeping like the pan was his own little bat cave, was a bat! I squealed like the littlest piggie and ran into the yard screaming, "BAT IN THE SINK, BAT IN THE SINK!!!!" If the neighbors didn't think I was a bag of batshit crazy before (hee hee) they do now. Again, said bat was wrapped in a towel and moved to a more bat appropriate place. (no I DON'T freaking know where...still trying to regulate breathing.)

It's now NOT ok. Any suggestions to keep bats out of our belfry that are humane?

  1. Woah, that’s quite unusual. Maybe it is better if you try making your sink a bit livelier. Hmm, putting up some aromatic scent might keep them away from the area. Brighter lighting and additional accessories might work. Maybe a livelier setup could keep them away. Good luck!

  3. "Yeah, that’s one unusual incident. I wonder why animals are getting drawn to the sink. Hmm… Some are saying their pets are just into it. By the way, here is a peculiar photo of an animal in a sink. =)

  4. That bat must’ve come from the roof or from any opening in your home, such as the chimney or windows. What Mallory said about using scents is true. However, you should use something that is non-toxic. Strong mint or menthol scent is something that animals really don’t like. I hope it’ll work for your house.

  5. Thanks Max...my husband has been talked into the bat houses in the backyard. I am pretty sure that will help with our mosquitoes as well:)

  6. I don't think the bat meant any harm to your sink. Haha! Perhaps it thought your sink looks great and all. But this incident made me wonder what would’ve happened if the bat got stuck in your drain XD. Here's another pic of an animal in a sink. 8. How did that bat get in your sink? This should serve as a wake-up call for you that you have to do some major cleaning in your house. You should find where that bat came from and how did it find its way inside your house, and make your house bat proof.

  9. Oh this may be a little quirky. Why did the bat want to hide in your sink? Of all the places it can hide in, why down there? Haha. Did you double check your walls? There might be holes in it already. I guess you should do a general cleaning in your house and check for all the possible holes and entrances that these animals can use to get inside your house.
